Means: Sending You Strength

So i usually push all kinds of bands, but since today is a slow day, and I've been listen to essentially only one album all day, i thought I'd let you know about it.

Means: Sending You Strength

This a great new hardcore/post-hardcore act from Canada i believe. They just signed on to Facedown Records and released Sending You Strength. The music is very aggressive and heavy but has very melodic moments that keep you very interested and helps the record have a little bit of contrast versus some albums like Hatebreed or maybe the new Comeback Kid record Broadcasting.

I like to hear a little singing once in awhile which is which I'm a little disappointed in the new Comeback Kid record, i miss Scott's vocal though Andrew is really intense live.

Anyway, back to Means. This record has very positive lyrics and great gang vocals to sing along with. If you're looking for something to keep you awake and motivate, put this record in and turn it up loud!

Shallow Man Down

So there's some dudes here at work that have started a band, Shallow Man Down, and they're playing this Saturday night at the Cricket in Downtown Denver. It's kind of a rock style music so its not really my thing, but i like to check out local bands and whatnot, so I'll be down there, i think they go on around 9p, they're the opening act.

If you're looking for something to do Saturday night, it's $5 to get in and hopefully the drinks are cheap.

Jonah and the Blackthorn Project

This Friday at Everyday Joe's in Fort Collins Jonah Werner and the Blackthorn Project are playing together. If you haven't checked out Jonah in concert, he's amazing, just a great storyteller.

I personally haven't seen the Blackthorn Project play yet, but i've been wanting to catch them, we've played a lot of music with Tim and Laurie (ex Newcomers Home R.I.P.).

So check the show out if you get a chance

AnBerlin side project

Stephen Christian, lead singer of AnBerlin has a side project called Anchor & Braille . He only has 3 songs posted at his PureVolume page, but if you like easy listening music, you'll really like this stuff, i like it so far.

Also, AnBerlin did a cover of Radiohead's Creep and there's a video of it at AOL, plus two other acoustic live songs, Inevitable and Unwinding Cable Car.

AFI Side Project

For those of you who are fans of AFI , and also really liked the new album Decemberunderground you should should check the side project by Davey Havok and Jade . Its pretty different, but i like it, i'm excited to hear what the album will sound like, and maybe they'll not put so much electronica on the next AFI album, but thats doubtful.

AnBerlin show @ Gothic Theatre 3/21/07

Shows

So i went by myself last night to the AnBerlin concert at the Gothic. Great show! AnBerlin is kind of a wierd band for me since they aren't hardcore or punk or heavy by any means, they're just good.

I got there late on purpose since i didn't know the opening bands, Jonezetta and MegDia, and well, i caught the end of MegDia and they weren't that bad, nah, they sucked.

the 3rd band was Bayside. I had been reading the hype so i downloaded their album, hated it, the singers voice doesn't sit well with me. So watching them live wasn't that bad, they had a lot of energey and a huge following, but it didn't convert me.

Then finally, AnBerlin. They came and just rocked, played some songs off of Blueprint but most of the stuff came from Friendship and Cities, heavy on the Cities. The singer has so much energy its just hard to believe. Heres the setlist as i can remember it, at least the songs they played;

Readyfuels
Godspeed
Don't Take Friendship Personal
Adelaide
Dismantle Repair (this song went off!)
A Day Late
Time & Confusion
Feel Good Drag
Dance Dance Christa
Paperthin Hymn
Whisper and Clamour
Unwinding Cable Car
Hello Alone

great show!
